Images show vivo X Fold5’s thickness compared to iPhone 16 Pro Max

vivo unveiled the X Fold3 last March, and its successor – called X Fold5 instead of Fold4 – is coming soon. vivo recently posted a video showing the Fold5 being lighter than the Fold3, weighing 219g. Now, a brand official has shared a couple of images comparing the vivo X Fold5’s thickness with that of the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The pictures show the vivo X Fold5 in both folded and unfolded states, positioned next to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. You can see that in unfolded state, the X Fold5 is thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro Max, but even in folded state, it’s only slightly thicker than the iPhone.

That’s impressive since the iPhone 16 Pro Max is 8.3mm thick, while the X Fold3 is 10.2mm thick when folded. So the vivo X Fold5 is not only slimmer than the X Fold3 but also lighter.

vivo is yet to reveal the X Fold5’s launch date, but rumors claim the smartphone will be unveiled on July 10 alongside the X200 FE.

The vivo X Fold5 is said to come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, 16GB RAM, 512GB storage, and a 6,000 mAh battery with 90W wired and 30W wireless charging support.

The X Fold5 will pack an 8.03″ 120Hz foldable AMOLED display with “2K+” resolution, while the outer screen – also having a 120Hz refresh rate – will measure 6.53″ diagonally.

The X Fold5 will feature five cameras: two 32MP selfie cameras (one on each screen) and three 50MP cameras (primary, ultrawide, periscope telephoto) on the rear.

The primary camera will use the Sony IMX921 sensor, while the periscope telephoto unit – having 3x optical zoom – will use the Sony IMX882 sensor. The ultrawide camera will have autofocus for macro photography.
